Baseline

Privacy policy

Baseline reads your car and keeps what it reads on your iPhone. This page says exactly what that means.

What Baseline reads

Through an OBD-II adapter, Baseline reads the diagnostic data your car's control modules report: the vehicle identification number (VIN), live engine values, diagnostic trouble codes, freeze frames, and on-board monitor results. It reads only. It never writes to the car and never clears a code.

Where it is kept

Everything Baseline reads is stored on your iPhone, in the app's own storage, and stays there. Baseline has no account, no server and no cloud. Deleting the app deletes the data.

What leaves your phone

What Baseline does not do

Apple frameworks

Notifications, when you allow them, are delivered by iOS for a pending code Baseline has seen and, if you keep the setting on, for a change worth knowing after a drive; their content stays on the phone. Live Activities and CarPlay show the same data on the lock screen and the car's display. On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, explanations can be written on the device itself; nothing is sent to Apple or anyone else for that, and where the feature is unavailable Baseline shows its fixed standard wording instead.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the date below changes with it and the new version ships with the app. Questions: digitalstructures@proton.me.
